Investigating the defoliating‐like (DL) VCG2A pathotype of <i>Verticillium dahliae</i> through identification and prediction of secreted proteins from genomes of Australian isolates

Abstract In Australia, recent investigations have reported the presence of a number Verticillium dahliae pathotypes (VCG1A, VCG2A and VCG6) that cause disease in cotton agricultural weeds. During these investigations, it was observed V . displayed greater virulence than previously local international isolates. Genome sequencing seven isolates performed using mixture short long reads technologies. Of isolates, four were identified as D VCG1A, one ND VCG2A, recently Australian VCG6 well virulent classified “defoliating‐like”. The secreted protein repertoire from genomes predicted separate signal prediction methods. consensus set revealed 20 proteins present all including DL absent nonvirulent Ten had functional annotation ligninase H8, lipolytic enzyme, laccase, amine oxidase, spherulin‐1A, dipeptidyl‐peptidase, monooxygenase, dienelactone hydrolase, carboxypeptidase fibronectin by BLASTP.
